The Bridge on the River Kwai - A Popular Check-in Spot in Kanchanaburi
The Bridge on the River Kwai, Kanchanaburi - Kanchanaburi's Number One Landmark
When speaking of Kanchanaburi Province, I believe that everyone has definitely heard of this tourist attraction: "The Bridge on the River Kwai". The Bridge on the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi Province has a famous and long history related to the history of World War II.

Traveling to the Bridge on the River Kwai is considered not difficult because the location is in the Mueang District of Kanchanaburi Province, which is about 5-6 km away from the town center, and then you're there.

This bridge is still in use for train travel today, and there is a station where you can get off directly at the bridge named "Bridge on the River Kwai" station.

The bridge is 300 meters long and is supported by 11 concrete piers. It was officially opened on December 25, 1943, and later, Allied forces attacked by air with heavy bombing until the middle section of the bridge broke.

The history of the Bridge on the River Kwai.
This bridge was constructed by Allied prisoners of war, using tens of thousands of laborers. These POWs had to endure malnutrition, abuse from Japanese soldiers, and a cholera epidemic during the difficult construction of this bridge, all to achieve a 415-kilometer long railway. The bridge was built to transport weapons, military equipment, and troops to Burma to attack Burma and India. The Bridge on the River Kwai also takes passengers to "Tham Krasae" station, where the route just before it runs alongside the river and a cliff, which was also a significant and extremely difficult part of the construction. The construction was so arduous that it led to the saying, "One sleeper of the Death Railway equals one life".
Currently, the bridge has been renovated and repaired by the State Railway of Thailand and is still in use today. Every year, the "River Kwai Bridge Week and Kanchanaburi Red Cross Fair" is held from late November to early December.
