Erawan Waterfalls: A Must-Visit Attraction in Kanchanaburi, Thailand
Erawan Waterfalls: Most Visited Tourist Attraction in Kanchanaburi
"Erawan Waterfalls - The Beauty Of Nature In The Western Thailand"
Erawan Waterfall is a very popular tourist attraction among both Thai and foreign tourists.
This place is located within Erawan National Park. The unique characteristics of this waterfall, which make it unlike any other waterfall attraction, are:
- The water has a turquoise or emerald-green color, which is especially vibrant during the hot season. (During the rainy season, the water may become cloudy due to the increased water flow and runoff.)
- The waterfall has a total of 7 tiers, making it particularly suitable for those who enjoy hiking. The distance from the bottom tier to the top is approximately 1,500 meters.
- On some levels, there are fish living in the water that will swim towards you and gently nibble on your toes and feet, making it feel like you're also getting a fish spa.
Each level of the waterfall has its own name, and the seventh level is called "Phu Pha Erawan" (Erawan Cliff). This is because the cliff's appearance on this level resembles a three-headed elephant, like the mythological Erawan elephant. This is the origin of the name "Erawan Waterfall."

The pools of water on the various tiers are all a turquoise/emerald blue-green color.

The fourth tier of Erawan Waterfall is called "Ok Nang Phisuea," which means "Chest of the Butterfly Lady" - The Mythological Character in Thai Literature (image above).

This is the 3rd step of the Erawan Waterfalls (image below).

The round-trip hike up and down at Erawan Waterfall takes about 3 hours.
